Newly Designed Vintage Pillowcase Dress at Cameo Kids Boutique

Exclusively at Cameo Kids Boutique

Ruffled Vintage Pillowcase Dress

After taking a bit of a breather we are back on track with creating and adding new items to the boutique.  We have a lot of catching up to do in the bloggy world too!  We've been busy and lazy, and enjoying the lazy part after a very very busy 2010 lol.  I realized Spring is poking her sunny head through, at least where we live anyway, and Easter is just around the corner, so I needed to get my fanny in gear because I have so many things on my list of creations, and my get at it list!  I have a new style to offer for our vintage pillowcase dresses. It's actually a combination of two patterns, "The Original Pillowcase Pattern", and another pattern I have but did a little tweeking to that too.  This is the first little gem I worked with to bring it to life.

Meredith, Our first Ruffled Vintage Pillowcase Dress!
She's just ADORABLE!!

The Beautiful Hand Crocheted Hemline!

This is Meredith.  This is our ruffled pillowcase dress, the first and is sized for 4T to size 5, might even fit a little girl's size 6 depending on the child.  It measures 23 1/2"L from shoulder to hem.  The ruffle around the neckline and up over the shoulders is stretchy allowing for more comfort and on this dress it is made from a soft vintage feedsack cotton fabric. This just pulls over the head to wear. No more fussy ribbons to deal with, but I do like that style alot.  I added a rescued piece of vintage cream colored lace with three little pink satin rosettes from an old dress, and added it to her neckline for embellishment.  The lacey hemline of the dress is hand crocheted in white, and edged in a sweet pink.  She turned out really sweet and is ready to ship if this is the one you like, and the size you need.  She is a one of a kind and there won't be another like her.
You can find her here: Meredith.

.  You can see many of our past creations of dresses and other things we have created here, along with dresses we've made using fabrics of today. Here's the link for that: Past Creations.

Vintage Lives On - A Grow With Me Pillowcase Dress

The Look ~ The Design ~ It's Just Divine!
(Sounds Like Divine Design on HGTV lol!)

The beauty of vintage linens just comes alive when transformed or recycled into beautiful heirloom dresses and pantaloons for little girls. I can't think of a better way to celebrate the hand work of women years and years ago into something so sweet, to again cherish it's beauty in a new form and a promise of new life.  It simply amazes me everytime no matter how many hundrends of these I've made, just how cute and precious each one becomes. I'm just ticklely gigglely all over again. This old vintage pillowcase matched with an old vintage chenilled bedspread is now all of that and more. This darling set is on it's way to a little girl who hasn't even had her first breath of life yet, and will be her first gift from mommy and daddy to welcome her to this world. This will be an heirloom for sure with the hope of a little girl of hers also wearing it again some day! I just get goosey bumps thinking of it!

Size 6M

I so love the bluebird ones!

This embroidery is just perfect, every single stitch! It's just too Sweeeeeeet!

A Darling Pillowcase Dress Giveaway - Enter to Win - Drawing on 7-15-2010

A Vintage Pillowcase Dress Giveaway!

To kick off summer we have decided to have our first giveaway for all you moms for your little one! Yea, free is good! What will you win you ask? This sweet darling vintage pillowcase dress for little ones, or it can be worn as a top for a bit older girl. It's up to you. This little darling measures 18 1/4"L from under the arm to the hem. Measure your child from under her armpit down the 18 1/4" to see where the hem will fall on your child. If it falls where you want it to be on her, it could be yours! If you would like this as a top to wear with leggins, pants, shorts, or a skirt, again measure from under the arm down the 18 1/4" to see where the hem would fall on her for a top. A good length for the top would be at the hip level or right below her little derriere. Any questions just leave us a comment and we'll get back to you.

As a dress this can fit sizes 12M, 18M, 24M/2T, and 3T, just depends on how long you want it to be on your little one. As a top it could fit size 4T, 5, 6, 7, and maybe 8, 9, and even 10. Make sure to measure your child for the right fit.

This one of a kind vintage pillowcase has been upcycled into a darling halter style dress, or top for an older girl. This has been embroidered with pretty flowers in three shades of pink, a lovely contrasting green, and in the center embroidered in white, is the Lords hands in prayer. His robe sleeves are edged in sweet lavender. The top of the dress has been shirred and ties with a beautiful pink satin ribbon through a pink satin ribbon loop in the back in a bow. A handmade lavender satin ribbon rose bud brooch with a tiny loopy edging embellishes the top and, is removable for cleaning. The sweet scalloped hemline is finished with a beautiful heirloom dainty lace. The fabric of the dress is lightweight cotton linen and just beautiful.

We have the mate to this case available and listed on the website for a custom order made dress if your not the winner of this giveaway, and would like to purchase one for your little one. With just a couple of measurements from you, we can have this made up just exactyly like the dress/top above for you in no time!
You can find it here at Cameo Kids Boutique

To give you an idea as an example of this worn as a top, my neighbor Leila modeled this for you.
Leila is 11 years old - wears a size 14 in tops or a large in girls. She is 4' Tall - and weights 100pds.
She is 29 1/2" in the chest - there is still lots for stretch in this dress/top.
Her waist is 27", and her hips are 32 1/4". It fits her very well, but I think if it was a litte bit longer
than the 18 1/4", it would be perfect on her. So I think size 10, 9, 8, and 7 would be the size for a top.
But that all depends on how long you would want this to be as a top on your child.
Please remember to measure! :)

Now for the rules on the giveaway! To enter you must do these things to win!

Vintage Pillowcase Dresses - The Sweetest Summer Frocks

Cameo Kids Boutique is known largely for our vintage pillowcase dresses. We list our vintage pillowcases in our online boutique so you can pick the case you love, and then we'll create a darling heirloom quality dress for your little one.

We have over 67 vintage pillowcases listed at present with many more listing soon. With summer here and on its way in other areas of the country, now is the time to fill your little girl's closet with these comfy little dresses or tops with many styles available. Yours can be made in the original style with the ribbons tying at the shoulders, peasant style, halter style, onesie style, and we can do many variations with each of those. Contact us to learn more.
Many of our pillowcases come in sets of two which is perfect for sisters or twins. There are many choices to choose from each with their own beautiful hand embroidered designs and dainty hand crocheted hemlines. Your dress will also come with a gift card to the little girl receiving the dress, and the story of how these little dresses first originated. These start a new history and story for the dress if you decide to store it away for another little girl one day.

Below you'll find some examples of what you will find when you visit. These are some of my very favorite vintage pillowcases. (They All Look Much More Beautiful In Person). Each one will simply become one of the most charming little girl's dresses ever! And, they are all packed with the history of days gone by.
